The Philsner started life as a fake! Pilsners are lagers, brewed with a cooler fermenting lager yeast, to create a delicate profile favouring the sweeter malt, and clean hop bitterness. Ours was made with an ale yeast. We needed it quickly! Now, however, it’s no longer a “phoney pilsner”. It’s fermented with a proper lager yeast, and cold-conditioned (lagered) for a full six weeks. Nothing else has changed. Same classic pilsner malt profile. Same lightly spicy Czech Saaz hop presence. Just smoother, cleaner, and much more by-the-book. A beer for any Phils you might happen to know.
