Brown ales have an unfortunate reputation for being “boring old man beer” and so of course, Mr. Parauri (“brown” in Te Reo) would work in the much maligned accounting department! Much like my brother-in-law who is also an accountant though, there’s nothing at all boring about this beer. Delicious notes of caramel and toasted bread marrying a gentle sweetness with an earthy hop note and drying bitterness make this an easy beer to “accidentally” drink several pints of. Perfect for the cooler weather, Parauri from Accounts is 5.2% abv and pairs amazingly well with food, especially anything with caramelised or sweeter flavours.
